Formerly called the Ktec Champ HP3 Total Blender, The New and improved BlendTec HP3A 3-Horsepower Home Blender is just about the most powerful blender for home use. The BlendTec Home HP3A Total Blender does much more than make smoothies. It will also crush, grind, chop, and mince foods. It can dice vegetables, mill grains, puree soups and baby foods, and so much more! In addition to soups and smoothies, you can use a Nut Milk Bag to make fresh juice. Read on for information on the BlendTec HP3A vs. Total Blender vs. Vitamix Blender. The BlendTec takes the place of ten other appliances! There is no need to purchase a grain mill, coffee grinder, ice cream maker, or food processor because the BlendTec HP3A Home blender does it all. New BlendTec J2 Container / Carafe The BlendTec comes with one 64 ounce Lexan Jar container, called the J2 Carafe. Extra BlendTec 64 ounce J2 jars are available. These jars are virtually indestructible and can withstand even the hardest objects. The jar comes with a one year warranty, although it should last a lifetime. On May 1, 2009, BlendTec made a change to the plastic material used in the J2, 2 quart blending jars. All J2 jars included with the BlendTec blenders will be the new BPA-free copolyester material. New BlendTec Offer! There is a 96 ounce BlendTec Jar with a longer 4 inch blade available. This larger jar can be purchased seperately, or you can have the BlendTec HP3A shipped with the 96 ounce jar instead of the J2 64 ounce jar for an extra $30. The HP3A is almost the exact same machine as the Total Blender. The Total Blender is the same as the HP3A, with a small difference. The "Total Blender" is only available directly from BlendTec or at Costco stores, while the HP3A is available in everywhere else. The HP3A blender is better than the Total Blender because it has more blending cycle options. The touch pad is the only differences between the BlendTec HP3A and the BlendTec Total Blender, with the HP3A having much greater programmability via the LCD control panel. The Total blender has 9 cycles pre programmed into the blender on the touch pad, the HP3A blender has 25. BlendTec HP3A Blender vs. Vitamix Blender. The best blenders on the market are the BlendTec HP3A and the Vitamix Blender. They are both super high powered blenders, and you will love either one. I prefer the BlendTec because it is easier to use. The Vitamix container is taller and narrow, and it is difficult to blend dry ingredients. You must add water to the Vitamix and use the plunger to blend foods. The BlendTec container is shorter and wide, and it does a much better job with dry ingredients. For example, you can put almonds into the BlendTec and it will grind them into a powder or almond butter. With the Vitamix, you must add water and then it becomes a soupy consistency. With the Vitamix, you need to purchase a second container to blend dry ingredients. This extra container costs $100. BlendTec vs. Vitamix horsepower: The BlendTec home model HP3A is a 3 horsepower motor, while the home Vitamix is a 2 horsepower motor. I prefer the BlendTec over the Vitamix because the BlendTec is more powerful. The BlendTec is easier to use with it's computer control touchpad, AND the BlendTec will blend up dry foods like nuts, seeds, and grains into a powder, nut butter, or dough with no problem. The Vitamix will blend nuts, seeds, and grains but it will turn them into a soup, smoothie, or nut milk.
